Wearables in logistics without integration? This is how it works.

Written by Teresa | 28. July 2025

The digitalization of intralogistics is no longer a trend, but a necessary step to remain competitive. Despite this, implementation in many medium-sized warehouses fails due to a seemingly insurmountable obstacle:

Integration into the existing system.

Whether old, rigid SAP WM, individual in-house developments or inflexible ERP interfaces - many warehouse managers shy away from the effort and dependencies that classic integration projects entail.

However, there have long been ways to make modern technologies such as wearables immediately operational without any connection to the WMS.

CSV instead of an interface - a smart way with real benefits

Modern wearables, such as the NIMMSTA smart watches with touch displays on the back of the hand, can speed up warehouse processes enormously: Employees have both hands free, receive visual guidance directly on their bodies and can confirm work steps immediately.

The problem: in many cases, their use requires direct integration into the warehouse management system, which is often a lengthy and expensive process or project effort that discourages SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) in particular.

The alternative: CSV-based data transfer via a smart cloud solution.

How does this work in practice?

This approach is made possible by using the Productivity Cloud. The process is very simple and at the same time extremely effective:

  1. CSV export from the WMS or ERP:
Picking orders, stock movements or inventory processes are exported in the form of structured CSV files. This is possible with any system, regardless of age or provider.

  2. Upload to the Productivity Cloud:
The CSV files are uploaded via the web-based Productivity Cloud, where they are processed automatically. Order type, article information, storage locations - all relevant fields are intelligently recognized and made usable.

  3. Orders in the system:
The orders are automatically structured in the Productivity Cloud and are assigned to individual users or smart watches. The orders can be edited, changed and prioritized.

  4. CSV re-export (optional):
After completion, the processed data can also be exported back as a CSV file and can be uploaded to the ERP or used for evaluation.

Why this approach is so effective

  • No system customization required
Nothing needs to be programmed or integrated. The existing backend or IT structures remain untouched.

  • Fast go-live possible
By using standardized CSV files, digital operation can start within a few hours - instead of months or years.

  • Ideal for pilot phases or selective processes
This approach is also ideal for specific use cases such as order picking, replenishment or inventory - without having to change the entire system landscape.

  • Ideal for small and medium-sized companies
All logistics processes, such as picking or sorting, can be implemented digitally directly in your own warehouse without complex integration. Completely independent of the WMS or ERP.
  • Independence and flexibility
The data structure is transparent, traceable and adaptable at any time. No vendor lock-in, no black box.

Exemplary data sources

The Productivity Cloud can record data from all processes:

  • Picking (pick lists)
  • sorting
  • stocktaking
  • stock transfers
  • Outgoing goods
  • Outgoing goods
  • Shipping
  • Replenishment control
  • etc.

Standard formats such as .csv, .xlsx or xml are supported. The fields are freely definable and can be mapped individually. Further details on the exact structure can be found in the official documentation.

Conclusion: Digitization does not have to be complicated

Many companies want to digitize - but don't want to integrate and don't want a complex IT project.
And this is exactly where the CSV-based cloud approach comes in: Simple, fast and effective.

Instead of complex IT projects, there is now the option of using modern wearables directly in the warehouse - without a system connection, without risk, without paper for EVERYONE.

A smart detour with maximum impact.
