Fendt, the high-tech brand in the AGCO Group, produces around 100 tractors a day at its Marktoberdorf site - each one configured from over 1,475 customer options. This enormous variety of products places the highest demands on logistics.
A key success factor: the precise provision of individual shopping baskets with up to 250 specific components per tractor - error-free, just in time, directly to the assembly line.
In the so-called "supermarket", where picking for production takes place, logistics employees previously worked with printed lists and manual shelf labels. Material numbers were matched visually - a source of error when part numbers were similar or storage locations changed.
The goal: digital, system-supported processes that minimize search times and errors, relieve employees and stabilize the production supply.
Fendt now uses the DIGITALPICKER, a digital worker guidance system for systematic control of the picking process, which Fendt developed together with INDUTRAX. The solution was supplemented by the use of NIMMSTA Smart Watches.
With the introduction of the NIMMSTA Smart Watches and the DIGITALPICKER, Fendt was able to significantly optimize order picking:
In the supermarket sector in particular, the combination of DIGITALPICKER and NIMMSTA has noticeably improved speed, safety and ergonomics.
Following the successful launch, Fendt is already planning to extend the solution to many other specific areas of application in the production sector. The scalable architecture of the solution enables seamless integration of additional processes - digital, efficient, future-proof.
